In short, the book attempts to present such a view of the state of Kansas - its resources, its industries, and the life of its people as ought to be known and may readily be learned by pupils belong ing to' the grammar grades of our public schools. It is hoped that the book will be found to have a value of its own apart from its use as a volume supplementary to a complete series.
